6/26/19 - United Nations & onto London

Day 10. Highlight one of the day is a tour of the United Nations building which fulfills our cultural education for NYC.

Highlight two is Leanne’s friend Elvis took the kids down on the trading floor of the bank where he works.

Last night I went back to the hotel room as I needed John’s help on this Squarespace thing we’re using to built the website. We worked on it until 2am and I stayed up to 5am trying to finish it. I spend all morning working on it in Craig’s kitchen. I now fully realize going into finance was a much better call than website design and coding.

A lot of time is spent packing and trying to optimize bags and weight. This is our last chance while we are in the US to shed stuff we don’t want to carry for the next 6 months.

We get to the airport 3 hours ahead. Good thing as our travel education continues. We are taking Norwegian Airlines overnight to London. We try to check in but find out that the combined weight of the personal item (for under the seat) and the carryon (for the overhead) can’t be more than 10kg. The first 3 are all over 10kg so the agent politely tells us there is a scale in the back corner and we will have to go there to figure out our bags. We do that and return. The agent shakes his said and says that we have 8 checked bags for 7 people and we’ll have to pay $100 for the extra one (steep fee for checking in bag at the airport vs in advance - lesson learned) but he allows me to take the smallest bag on a carry-on demonstrating the nice side of humanity.

Dinner is wherever we can find 7 seats in a crowded airport and onto London.
