6/26/19 - New York City Summary
/We return to the United States for John to perform an opera solo at Carnegie Hall.
I grew up just outside the City and Leanne and I lived, worked and met each other here. John spent a month here last summer with the NY Lyric Opera program and we took all the kids on vacation as well. So NYC is not new for us but the reason we are here is for John’s performance.
My college roommate, Craig and his wife Cori, graciously hosted us and we got to spend time catching up. Getting to hang out with them was definitely an added bonus. I owe them one as they essentially let me build our travel blog from their kitchen table since I knew that would be the most reliable WiFi I might see for a while.
The highlight was John singing an opera solo at Carnegie Hall on Tuesday night. In the audience, we had our group of 6, Craig and Cori and their 2 kids, Leanne’s friend Elvis and her mom who came up from New Jersey to watch. The performance was Hills Academy Student Honors Performance that contained piano, violin, flute and vocal performances by students. Amazing show.
We also managed to get in a tour of the United Nations, a visit to the trading floor of an investment bank with Leanne’s friend, tour of the financial district by Craig and outdoor dinner with Craig at the South Street Seaport.
