7/5/19 - Dublin, Doors and Dinner
/Day 19. We arrive in Dublin and take a taxi to our Air BnB place. I talk to the taxi driver, Phillip, the entire drive into Dublin. He was born and raised in Dublin and talked about how all the technology giants have established their European headquarters in Dublin due to the tax breaks which has created a bigger divide between the foreign ex-pats and the locals as the tech employees get paid a lot more than the locals which has driven rent and housing prices up materially in the last 4 years..
We get to our Air BnB place - it’s a really cute house. The kids are excited as this is the largest place we’ve gotten and we can spread out. We even have a backyard. The laundry is yet again a single unit to do both washer and dryer which I am highly suspicious of after the laundry fiasco in Edinburgh.
The kids are tired so Leanne, John, Justin & I head out for dinner. We are hoping for a place with live Irish music but the challenge is that kids aren’t allowed in a pub after 10pm. By the time we head out, it’s 8:45pm so we have to find the closest local place to eat. We find one but no live Irish music. Hopefully tomorrow.
Ireland is famous for it’s doors so we take in the doors which are all different colors as far as you can see down the street.
