9-20-19 - Bidding Paris au revoir

Day 96. Kyle & Leanne joint blog.

Today, we have a light day planned but absolutely need to get packed. Can we juggle that, lunch in Paris, a fashion show with a bunch of prep work for Asia travelling?

The day starts off with us doing something incredibly romantic together — we sprayed permethrin, an mosquito repellent, on most of our clothes as we have to prep our clothing for blocking mosquitos in Southeast Asia. Equally as exciting, I also take 3 hours to reorganize several bags as we wanted to get one more bag down.

John is tasking Ashlynn and Ashley into Paris for a fashion show at Galleries Lafayette in the afternoon.  Corey and Justin get the bus into St. Germain for haircuts and to restock toiletries.

We are supposed to go into Paris for lunch with Bertrand, our friend from business school who live in Paris, when Kyle realizes that our flight is 3 hours earlier than we originally thought. Yes, we should be used to the 24 hour clock (instead of AM and PM) by now.  Realizing there is no way we can finish packing and make lunch since it takes 1+ hour each way to get into Paris.  We have to regretfully cancel – sorry Bertrand!

My French friend Anne offers to drive us to the airport — who does this?  It was such a sweet gesture as it’s Friday traffic and Charles de Gaulle airport is a good hour away (note-to-self: drive more people to airport when we get home).  She even give us apples she just picked for our snack. We thank her profusely for the kind gesture. Thank you Anne.  John maneuvered the Paris metro to the airport after the Fashion Show and the three of them arrive to the airport even before us.

As we think about the dozen of French people we know well, we have determined that French friends are the absolutely best friends you could ever wish for!

It is sad to leave France! To leave the comfort of friends whom have taken care of us over the last week ensuring our safety is met and our bellies are full with amazing French food.
