6/18/19 - Hiking the Canadian Rockies
/Day 2. With the long summer comes 5:30am sunrise. Which normally would normally be fine except Leanne and I are sleeping on upper landing loft with huge windows with no shades. Guess I need to plan for a 5:30am wake-up every morning this week.
With the trip just starting we are feeling ambitious and decide to go on a hike. John researches the hikes and we opt for Tunnel Mountain. The family makes it varying distances with Justin, Corey and I making it to the top. The views are absolutely stunning. I can see why this is a UNESCO World Heritage site and Banff is the most popular tourist destination in Canada. My GPS clocked in at 5 miles including the walk from town to the trailhead.
We go swimming in the resort pool. Best views from a pool I’ve ever experienced and probably will have on this trip. The jacuzzi pool felt good after the hike. We hop the bus into town and eat dinner at The Meatball Pizza & Past. Italian again but we get an outdoor table with views of the mountains surrounding the town.
