6/21/19 - Indigenous people’s day

Day 5. One catch-up day turns into two catch-up days.  Yes, a little boring on my part but I know the pace will pick up once we leave Banff and we do have 7 days here.

Leanne and the kids continue on the historical and cultural exploration.  They visit the Whyte Museum to learn about the history of Banff and the area.  Banff’s historical highlight is that they were the first national park in Canada and the 3rd ever (shortly behind Yellowstone and Yosemite).

Today is indigenous people day in Banff.  Leanne and the kids visit exhibits and a more full-blown dance production / celebration of the indigenous people.

For dinner, the only reservation we could get was for 9:30pm.  Most of the kids were tired so it ended up being Justin, Leanne and me.  Dinner was at the Grizzly Restaurant which serves fondue style meats of various animals in the area.  Advanced apologies to the vegetarians reading this.

The Grizzly provided the opportunity to get meat eater adventurous which is a lot easier for me than let’s say fish adventurous given I don’t eat fish. Yes – those who know me well know that the food aspect of this trip might be challenging for me given my natural aversion to fish and vegetables.  We have elk, caribou, buffalo and venison and are happy we branched and didn’t return to eating pizza.
